Job Description
Freedom Fellowship is a small church with a big vision. As “a family of faith living for eternity today,” we are seeking to raise up men, women and children who place their faith in Jesus and walk according to the Scriptures. Opportunities for gospel proclamation exist in Roanoke, and Freedom Fellowship is poised to take advantage.
To that end, we are looking for a full-time lead pastor to lead our church into the future. We are looking for someone who loves the Lord and wants to see his church grow in unity, Christlikeness, and a passion for evangelism. Moreover, we are looking for the right person to advance the mission of Freedom Fellowship.
Qualifications
- Must meet the qualifications for an elder/overseer according to 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
- Must be able to articulate a passion for serving a local church.
- 5+ years of experience in a ministry position preferred, but not required.
- An MDiv from a Southern Baptist seminary or equivalent degree preferred, but not required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Effectively preach and communicate meaningful, applicable, expositional messages from Scripture.
- Prayerfully develop and implement a long-term vision for the church with the other elders.
- Lead staff, including the recruitment and supervision of pastors and other staff members.
- Lead, guide, and oversee church ministries with the support of the elders and ministry teams.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other Christ-centered organizations.
- Actively support outreach and mission efforts.

Church Profile
Freedom Fellowship launched in 1994 with 10 families. Over the decades, the church has seen periods of growth and decline, but attendance has predominantly averaged around 40 people on a Sunday morning. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the church declined to 30-35 average attendance. Since then, the church has grown significantly in health and modestly numbers, averaging 45-50 over the previous year. The church budget has also grown to over $200,000 annually. The growth in health, numbers, and finances, puts the church in an excellent position to expand evangelistically in the coming years.
The church is an elder-led, deacon-served, congregational church. Freedom Fellowship believes in a plurality of elders, with no elder possessing any additional authority over any other. However, the elders are also ready to follow the leadership and vision of the next Lead Pastor, who will serve as one of the elders.
Freedom Fellowship has one full-time staff member, a Family Pastor, who oversees the Student Team and the Kids Team. The church also has several key volunteer leaders over the Music Team and the Media Team.
The church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention, and the Denton Baptist Association.
Community Profile
Roanoke, TX, is located approximately 20 miles north of Fort Worth. Roughly 10,000 people live within the city limits, but over 100,000 people live within a 5-mile radius of the church building.
The following is a quick snapshot of our community:
· Predominantly White (65%) with a sizeable Hispanic population (18%).
· Relatively affluent, with a six-figure median income
· Highly educated, as nearly half the population has at least an undergraduate degree
· A growing population of families who do not claim any religious affiliation—or who claim Christianity but do not regularly attend church. We estimate that there are over 60,000 lost people in a 5-mile radius of our building
